Excellent article, which sent a seasonally appropriate chill down my spine. Thanks in particular for explaining the background to the supposed blood-stained ceiling boards at the Genko-an - when I visited the temple many years ago, I think that I only partly understood the grim tale of how they originated. Or could it just be that the roof is leaky .... ?
