PASSAGE TO BANGKOK, 2006

From the air, the mountains of Laos are like little gumdrops.  On approach to Bangkok, you pass over hundreds of flooded paddy fields, and if the sun is right, they light up with a great burst of pyrotechnics.  Light folds around towering storm clouds, bouncing back up off a layer of smog below.
