Waiting for Inari

 

 
Hi-ho Hi-ho song in my head, as I walk through what feels like a mineshaft.  

Looking for a god, but finding cats and crow song.
  
 
Today is Hatsuuma (初午). 
 
 Legend has it that the deity of Fushimi Inari Shrine descended from Mt. Inari in 711 on the day known as hatsuma, or the first day of the horse.
 
Together with Chris, fellow Conquistador of the Absurd, we decided to climb the mountain before sunrise, and then escort the god down at dawn...
