Surprised that nobody else has commented on this thoughtful and well-researched piece - which prompts musings on the utter randomness of death and destruction once a war breaks out. Reminds me of a photo book about the townscapes of German cities before 1939-45. To some extent, buildings can be restored, but never the city's original character .... Or the lives, of course.
